Procedure for replacing Keenan Orbital splined shaft

To remove existing parts:

1. Remove the PTO shaft from the machine.

2. Remove the upper and lower front guards.

3. Open drain bung from right side of drive system compartment and allow the oil to drain.

4. Slacken the chain tensioner bolt and remove the drive chain.

5. Loosen the 2 grub screws on both the front and rear spline shaft bearing.

7. Open all 8 nuts around the front flange and remove it along with the splined shaft and bearing assembly.

8. Remove the splined shaft assembly from the front bearing and flange.

To fit new parts:

9. Fit the new splined shaft and 16-tooth sprocket assembly (OS1223-29) into the flange and bearing assembly. Oil or grease the front 60mm surface of the shaft to ensure it does not damage the oil seal between the flange plate and bearing as it passes through.

10. Replace the gasket seal (701751) with the new one provided.

11. Refit the shaft and flange assembly into its housing in reverse order to dismantling.

12. Refit drain bung.

30. Refit drive chain and joiner link.

31. Adjust chain tensioner to give a maximum of 13mm inward movement in the center of the 2 sprockets (see operators manual).

32. Fill lower half of the gearbox chamber with 445 grade oil or equivelant to a depth of approximately 90mm.

33. Refit the upper and lower front guards.

36. Refit PTO shaft.

37. Run machine and check that all parts are running smoothly.
